I used to work at Ultimate Records doing press, radio and general bits and pieces that needed doing. One of my bosses was one Andrew Winters who also managed a few bands. One of those bands wasDodgy, who used to come into the office and raise merry hell on many an occasion.
It was very exciting watching a band develop and sign a major deal and then start to have hit singles at such close range.
We used to go and see Dodgy play live all the time and join in the ridiculous ideas Andrew would have – ‘Let’s get Nigel arrested at Speaker’s Corner!’ Yeah!!

The Manics came to Aldershot to promote their ‘Motown Junk‘ single, released on Heavenly. The gig easily sold out with people travelling down from London and far further a field than the usual Buzz Club gigs, as you can see by this letter which appeared in the ‘N.M.E.‘ the week after the show.
